Dispatch Politics Roundup: Spring of Uncertainty

Winter may be gone but a frigid atmosphere of war and economic uncertainty remains—at home and abroad.

Overseas, war in the Middle East continues to rage as the U.S. and Iran trade claims and counterclaims regarding whether negotiations are underway to wind down the conflict. President Donald Trump says they are happening; the mullahs, or whoever is in charge in Tehran these days, say otherwise. At home, Democrats and Republicans continue to bicker over funding for the Homeland Security Department, leaving travelers practically stranded in long airport security lines; although maybe that’s coming to an end? Meanwhile, the high cost of living is nowhere near reduced to the voters’ satisfaction, adding to Republicans’ growing anxiety about this fall’s midterm elections.

Here at The Dispatch, aided by our stable of capable contributing writers, we’re doing our best to tackle all of it and provide you with the reporting and analysis you need to make sense of it all.
