The Dispatch welcomed Tax Day, that annual dreaded anti-holiday, with the launch of Dispatch Markets, our latest public policy newsletter, with a gem from Scott Lincicome on the “hidden costs” of our “unnecessarily complex tax code.” (I’d have summarized it for you but no one translates government-economy-speak better than Lincicome.) But politics stops for nothing, and so we did our best to keep up. Mike Warren was in Georgia traveling with Republican Gov. Brian Kemp and his handpicked Senate candidate, Derek Dooley; and I was in Indiana reporting on the unique case of President Donald Trump intervening in a collection of GOP primaries for state Senate—state Senate!—as part of a campaign aimed at punishing incumbent Republicans who refused to go along with his middecade redistricting scheme in the Hoosier State. And don’t miss our roster of staff and contributing writers covering the Iran war, American culture, and the latest happenings on Capitol Hill.
