It’s September seventeenth!
A date to celebrate and pray,
Brave men signed a bold document,
It was Constitution Day!
They put their names on parchment,
To defend our liberties.
In their zeal they were ardent,
To stand for free communities.
It began with, “We the People,”
Because that is whom it defends.
The people have the power,
To govern and make amends.
It’s now our job to protect her,
Not let evil overcome.
Good amendments made her stronger,
But take care not to overrun!
She is strong yet very fragile,
And must be treated with respect.
Beware that leaders don’t compile,
Mistakes that could then go unchecked.
For A more perfect Union,
To run Federal Government,
The Founders were enlightened,
And achieved their great intent!
