A couple weeks ago, I had the opportunity to represent The Dispatch and SCOTUSblog at a national high school civics competition in D.C., along with my fellow Gen Z colleague, Olivia Geno. Don’t worry; we weren’t competing. We had a table where we were telling the next generation about these two great outlets.
The organizers had a big party for the kids who were in town for the competition one night, and they let us and a bunch of other organizations set up tables in a clubs-fair type of setting. (Shoutout to the people who came to help after they saw me really struggle to set up our backdrop.)
The kids there were pretty bright, but there was also something we noticed about the party itself. It was sort of like a high school dance with music and a mosh pit in the middle. And Olivia and I observed that the songs they played were pretty much the same ones that we would rock out to at our dances when we were their age. Maybe the kids will be all right after all.
